Our Way Forward
The U.S. National Grid Institute’s mission is to promote awareness and use of the U.S. National Grid standard as the nation’s primary geo-location coordinate system and 'language of location' for emergency response, data analysis, asset management and public mapping.
Purpose
- promote emergency preparedness, emergency response, public safety, and other public benefits through awareness, understanding, and effective use of the United States National Grid federal geolocation standard;
- facilitate use of the United States National Grid among units of government, non-governmental organizations, institutions of learning, public corporations and private enterprise for the common good; and
- provide technical expertise, research, facilities, education, and
- funding to encourage use of the United States National Grid for public benefit.
